Terms of service.
Our terms and conditions are available for all our customers to view prior to booking in.
By making an appointment with us and paying a deposit/booking fee you are agreeing to our terms and conditions and agreeing to take responsibility for adhering to them.
BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BOOK, PLEASE BE AWARE:
Under the Tattooing of Minors Act 1969, it is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18, regardless of parental/guardian consent.
Phat Kat Tattoo is strictly a “no under 18s” environment and thus no babies or children are allowed in the studio.
At your appointment, you will be asked to fill out a consent form. You will be expected to disclose information about YOUR health conditions and medications. Certain conditions, medications or medical histories may mean that we are unable to tattoo you, or may have to wait for GP approval. If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Confidential information is stored in accordance with record-keeping requirements from the local authority and disposed of in line with GDPR guidelines. Completed forms are kept in locked storage and shredded after 2 years.
We do not allow any client to consult with friends/family on the phone or in person during their appointment, whether about the design or placement. It is incredibly important that each client is 100% in control of the process and of their own body. We have to ensure that we have your full consent without any outside influence, and be confident that clients are able to take responsibility for your own decision-making as part of the process. Our artists will support you with their knowledgeable advice and assist in any sizing or placement options. This is to ensure no client is being coerced into getting a tattoo.
1. Design Policy
1.1 If the design is custom, or needs to be altered the client will be able to see the design on the day of the appointment and not earlier. This is to protect our artists and staff time, and prevent art being stolen.
1.2 Our artists have the right to refuse a tattoo design if it includes any racist/fascist/homophobic/transphobic/sexist references.
1.3 ALL tattoos containing words in any language must be thoroughly checked by the client and we will not be held responsible for any incorrect spellings, grammar or mistranslations.
1.4 Our artists have the right to refuse any tattoo with reason.
2. Deposit Policy
2.1 No appointment is made without the deposit/booking fee being made. The deposit/booking fee will be deducted from the total cost on the day of the appointment.
2.2 Deposits for tattoos under £200 will always be £50, any tattoo costing OVER £200 will require a £100 deposit.
2.3 We reserve the right to change the deposit amount at any time and announcements will be made on all social media/website.
2.4 We reserve the right to request a higher deposit if you have previously no-showed an appointment or have requested to change your appointment multiple times.
2.5 The deposit paid is only for the design/idea discussed and any significant alterations may require a further deposit and new quote.
2.6 Any changes requested 48 hours before the appointment may result in your deposit being forfeited and a new appointment made if the requested changes are different to the original idea.
2.7 ALL DEPOSITS/BOOKING FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. Please remember the cost of your tattoo goes into more than just the actual appointment, the deposit covers your online consultation, research, admin staff time and making of the design.
2.8 Our artists reserve the right to refuse service to any client (including any friends/family brought along to an appointment) who presents as a risk to the health and safety of other clients and staff within the building.
3. Cancellation Policy
3.1 All appointments require a minimum of 48 hours for cancellation. If cancelled with MORE than 48 hours notice, your deposit may be applied to your new appointment however this is only done in extreme circumstances.
3.2 If a client has cancelled, or no-showed a significant amount of times we reserve the right to ban the client from any future appointments with any future artists, and the client will not be able to use any vouchers from that point.
4. Reschedule Policy (Client)
4.1 All appointments require a minimum of 48 hours to reschedule.
4.2 We will only reschedule your appointment twice before the deposit is forfeited and a new appointment will have to be made.
4.3 If your appointment needs to be delayed for a significant period of time due to health or pregnancy please contact our team ASAP.
5. Late Policy
5.1 If the client is more than 20 minutes late with no communication or any advance notice you may forfeit your deposit and lose your appointment. This is because we cannot start significantly late as this will then delay the next client.
5.2 If the client contacts us prior to the appointment starting we may delay the appointment under extreme circumstances in order to accommodate.
5.3 If the client contacts us AFTER their appointment starts, but within the first 20 minutes we may delay the appointment under extreme circumstances in order to accommodate, however this will depend on how late the client will be, and if this will delay another appointment.
5.4 If we would have to significantly delay the next clients appointment, even with advance notice we reserve the right to cancel the appointment.
6. Reschedule Policy (Artist)
6.1 The Artist has the right to reschedule any appointment in the event of health problems or extreme personal circumstances.
6.2 Customers may be contacted (in the way they originally contacted us for an appointment unless stated otherwise) before their appointment if any issues arise. Customers must ensure they are using the correct contact details so that we can get in touch.
6.3 We must reserve the right to move or alter any appointment for a guest artist if their travel is severely disrupted through no fault of Phat Kat Tattoo. Every opportunity possible will be provided to accommodate clients in these circumstances.
7. Client Responsibility
7.1 All customers must notify us of any health conditions or regular medication before a deposit is taken to secure a session. Even minor health issues must be discussed prior to an appointment being booked. If requested, a client MUST bring a signed GP note stating that, in the professional opinion of the GP the condition/medication should have no impact on the clients ability to receive a tattooing treatment. We will make ourselves available should a GP need to consult with the artist directly for any reason.
7.1.1 If a client does not bring a signed GP note when requested, then the clients deposit/booking fee will be forfeited without exception.
7.2 Clients will not show up to any appointment under the influence of drink or any drugs, and if found to be under the influence they will be asked to leave the studio and the deposit/ booking fee will be forfeited.
7.2.1 In the event that the tattoo has begun and any staff become aware that a client is under the influence, they will be promptly asked to leave and will be required to pay per hour for any of the artists time used. For example, if an hour of tattooing has happened prior to finding out a client is under the influence, they will be expected to pay for this hour and lose their deposit.
7.3 Clients must dress appropriately for their tattoo, or bring clothing that will allow the artist unrestricted access to the area needed. Clients will be provided a place to get changed privately. Please remember that because you are comfortable removing most of your clothing for a tattoo, your artist/other staff may not be comfortable with this. We will always provide privacy screens in cases where anywhere intimate is exposed, or if the client would prefer privacy.
7.4 Clients will not knowingly come to their appointment sick with any viral, bacterial, fungal or contagious infection (this includes Covid-19). Our shop is currently all from one household, and this means the shop would have to close for an undetermined amount of time for ill health and to thoroughly sterilize the property. Although the treatment room is thoroughly sanitized and sterile for each client, the close proximity that tattooing requires puts our artists at risk.
7.4.1 In the event that you are aware of or suspect any illness, infection, or contagious condition prior to your appointment, you must promptly inform Phat Kat Tattoo to reschedule your appointment. You are encouraged to prioritize the safety and well-being of both our staff and other clients. Please remember that your body will struggle to heal a tattoo correctly if you are not well. Our 48 hour cancellation policy still applies for sickness, and we would only consider rescheduling in extreme circumstances.
7.4.2 Deliberate attendance while knowingly carrying a contagious infection is considered a breach of these terms and may lead to further legal action. Phat Kat Tattoo reserves the right to pursue damages, loss of wage and any associated legal costs in the event of such malicious intent. Please note this also includes hiding or lying about any bloodborne disease/virus/health condition.
7.5 Clients will ensure that they are happy and decided on the placement of their tattoo when booking as any significant changes of placement may require the design to be altered to fit the new space and a new quote/appointment may need to be arranged. Some areas of the body require a higher quote as they are more difficult to tattoo due to skin thickness/texture differences, comfort and pain of the client and artist. If the client has contacted us to change the original placement within 48 hours of their scheduled appointment, the deposit may be forfeited.
7.6 Clients are expected to adhere to any additional health and safety guidelines or measures implemented by Phat Kat Tattoo to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for all.
7.7 By attending Phat Kat Tattoo at any time, you accept responsibility for your own health and the health of others within our premises.
7.8 Clients will not bring additional people to their appointment as we are not able to accommodate having multiple people in the reception, and for the health and safety of our clients and artists they will not be permitted in the treatment room. In any case where you feel you need someone with you in the treatment room, please contact us and we will see what we can do to accommodate.
7.8.1 If a client does bring additional people, phat kat reserves the right to ask them to leave the property.
8. Touch Up Policy
8.1 Courtesy touch ups are at the discretion of the tattoo artist. Some parts of the body are more difficult to tattoo than others and may require several sessions (for example, the palm of the hand, or fingers). When enquiring you will be notified if the area will be affected. It is at the artists discretion if they will offer any courtesy touch ups and you will be notified.
8.2 If touch ups are required for a tattoo and it is clear to the artist that the client did not properly care for the tattoo, and thus created the need for a touch up they may be charged the minimum fee (£50) to cover all materials, artist and staff time. If there is a larger area that needs to be touched up, the artist will charge at their discretion to cover their time and materials used.
9. Minimum Charge Policy
9.1 The shop minimum charge (£50) covers the time and expense of a clinical set up and clean up of all equipment and treatment area as well as all clinical and sterile supplies used to provide a clean and safe tattoo. This is also to cover the artists and any other staff time.
10. artwork policy
10.1 All Artwork (except for flash designs) will not be sent as a preview of a custom design for your review until you are at your scheduled appointment. Any revisions to the design that stay within the original idea can be made on the day of your appointment and any significant changes to the idea, size, placement, concept etc. will require a new appointment and deposits will be forfeited.
10.1.1 In a case where a design will be changed, clients are not permitted to take any photographs or videos of any kind of the design as they are the intellectual property of the artist.
10.2 In a case where the original artist no longer works at our studio, we are not responsible for finishing any in progress tattoos, however please contact us in this event and we will do our best to accommodate you.
